Loving my New Look

The last 2 months have been busy ones at the Peeko Crafts headquarters. There hasn’t been as much creating and designing as I’d like, nor has there been as much social media as I’d like. But there has been some serious organising and I’ve finally gotten around to settling on a logo for my business.

One of the things I promised myself I’d do is get my accounts in order. I dreaded the thoughts of getting my head around the whole accounting system of double entries and journal entries. But then I found Wave, which is a super cool and easy to use accounting cloud software that is geared towards small business owners like myself who don’t really have any accounting qualifications. And best of all it’s free! It also syncs up with your bank account, Paypal and Etsy shop so half the work is done for you. Whoo hoo!

The next thing on my list of dreaded To Do’s was Inventory. No one likes doing inventory. Especially someone who has thousands of little beads and yards of thread and yarn. I’m not going to lie, counting them all was a torturous task that took a whole week. It resulted in lots of beads being spilt on the floor and sucked up the hoover and balls of yarn being stolen by my cats. I did it in the then though and after a week of counting 61,898 bits of things I finally knew what supplies I had in stock. I don’t ever want to have to do it again so I went in search of some more handy software to help me out and came across CraftMaker Pro. As the name suggests, it is made specifically for crafters and is a brilliant inventory tool for keeping track of exactly what you have in stock. It even has a super handy pricing tool to help you work out just what you should be charging for your creations.

And that brings me to my final task, my brand spanking new logo! Having floundered around for months trying to come with a design myself, I finally went in search for a professional over on designcrowd.com. A couple of days into the design competition the designer of my logo submitted something similar to the logo you see here. After a few tweaks here and there I had my new logo and I love it. I love it so much and am so happy to finally one (and to have all those other pesky jobs done) I’m going to run a competition over on my Facebook page this evening to celebrate, so be sure to pop over and keep an eye out for it!

  1. Hi there, my name is Kristin and I live in Dún Laoghaire.

I am so fascinated by your post. Very inspiring. I too have a small company in Ireland. I am trying out FreshBooks which is an accounting system. Its not at all free. I signed up for Wave – but am curious to hear if it is totally free or if there will be a fee later on in the process?

I hope you don´t mind me asking.

    Kind regards

    1. Hi Kristin, it’s completely free. I think there is a paid version that allows you to do a bit more and gives you a direct line to customer support but to be honest, the customer support for the free version is brilliant. I’ve contacted them a few times and have had a reply within the hour. As far as freeware goes, I really can’t fault it!
