Mickey the Monkey

I mentioned this little fella in my last blog post and as promised this post is all about him! This little monkey first came about when a customer who spotted Louie the Elephant contacted me and asked could I make a monkey for her daughter. So out came my notebook and pencil and got busy designing this little chap.

Like Louie (and all my other amigurumis) He is crocheted with Rico Creative Cotton Aran so he is extra snuggly for all those monkey cuddles. And like all my toys, he is CE Certified so he meets all EU Safety Regulations. Yipee!!!

So once this little fella was designed and on his way to his new home it was time to write up a pattern for him. As always, I had a lovely group of pattern testers who made some pretty darn cute monkeys of their own

I absolutely love seeing all the different monkeys that have already been made with my pattern. One of the beauties of this pattern is that you can alter it. I kept all the felt shapes simple so they could easily be substituted with crochet or with safety eyes. I plan on adding crochet instructions to the pattern as well to make it even easier to change it up.

These two colourful little fellas made it down to Craft Central in New Ross along with a couple of colourful elephants. One of the main reasons I use Rico Creative Cotton is because of the huge range of colours available and if you know anything about me by now it’s that I love making colourful creations!

You can pick up the pattern for Mickey from Etsy, Ravelry and Loveknitting or you can pick up the finished monkey from the Etsy shop 🙂
